Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics

MKO Medical Office Building
Livonia, MI
Two Story, 23,000sf
Ambulatory Surgery, Urgent Care, Radiology and Portable MRI

The sun is rising on the new Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics building, in Livonia MI.  This project was a design and build collaboration with Hobbs + Black Architect, from Ann Arbor, MI.

mko2The project challenge was to create a highly attractive ambulatory surgery center, urgent care facility and mobile MRI on a tight construction budget.  To meet this goal, Kasco undertook the design and engineering of the building civil, structural, and mechanical and electrical engineering.

Kasco provided cost control and oversight of the engineering design, relieving the architect, Hobbs + Black to focus on the architectural design and cost controls for the architectural systems.  As a result of Kasco’s management of the civil, structural, mechanical and electrical designers, the project was delivered 10% below originally Project Budget.

The Hobbs + Black design combines the comforting look of dry stack field stone with contemporary aluminum & glass, steel and metal trim and accents. The consequence of our close collaboration was a project that was completed on time, under budget with a unique and attractive façade.
