University of Detroit Mercy Student Union Expansion & Recessed Plaza

Major expansion work features 12,000 sf new addition, 43,000 sf interior renovation and a 15,000 sf recessed student plaza. Kasco was brought on board just after schematic design providing valuable insight and direction as the façade and utility distribution systems were in the early stages.

The project includes consolidation of campus administration functions, public safety services and student activity spaces. The focal point of the project is a modern student plaza area with wide walkways, formed concrete and grass seating in addition to a terrace area ideal for outdoor lectures, presentations or study areas.
